NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME (N.H.I.S)

INTRODUCTION

The Afigya Sekyere District Health Insurance Scheme was established under the National Health Insurance Act 2003, Act 650 as a body corporate. The Afigya Sekyere Health Insurance scheme is a health finance programme aimed at ensuring that all residents of Ghana access quality health care without paying money at the point of service.

VISION

To be a sustainable, progressive and equitable social health insurance scheme in Sekyere South district.

MISSION

To provide quality service to all residents in the district, by financing the cost of basic healthcare and proper I.D management for our subscribers.

OBJECTIVES

1. To increase efficiency in the financial operations of the scheme.
2. To increase active membership to 70% by the district population by the year 2025.
3. To increase coverage of the vulnerable including the poor and indigent to 50% by 2025.
4. To provide support to increase access to quality basic health care services in the district.
5. To improve the quality of service accessed by NHIS members.

FUNCTIONS

We register new members and issue biometric cards to them

We renew NHIS card for old members whose cards have expired.

We grant accreditation to service providers in the district.

We monitor the performance of accredited service provider.

CORE DUTIES

Registration of NHIS members.

Renewal of NHIS cards.

Educating Clients on NHIS.

Mentoring accredited providers.

Vetting Claims from accredited providers.

Receiving and resolving complains from NHIS members and Health providers.
